Learn 03 - Radio Check and Signal Strength

The prowords are…

  • RADIO CHECK (comms status btw initiating station and sub-stations),

  • SIGNAL STRENGTH (comms status btw sub-stations),

  • OK (Loud and Clear),

  • DIFFICULT (Comms is workable with difficulty. Care and extra measures are needed),

  • NOTHING HEARD (not receiving reply),

  • INTERFERENCE (Received with disturbance from other transmitting station),

  • DISTORTION (Received with noises),

  • INTERMITTENT (Signal fading at intervals - loud and weak).

  • HINT: Proword DIFFICULT to be used with proword INTERFERENCE, DISTORTION, or INTERMITTENT.

  • NOTE: To be used during comms trial and NOT during operation as it might compromise security.

Example:

  • HULLO all station AB, this is 00, RADIO CHECK OVER.
  • 10, OK, OVER.
  • 20, DIFFICULT with INTERFERENCE, OVER.
  • 30, OK, OVER.
  • 00, 20 DIFFICULT with DISTORTION, SIGNAL STRENGTH, OVER.
  • 10, OK, OUT.
  • 20, OK, OUT.
  • 30, 20 DIFFICULT with INTERMITTENT, OUT.
  • 00, OK, OUT.
